No fuel pump whirring-no start.

Hi,

Well the honeymoon didn't last; only had it a week ('97 T509).
Today I wanted to investigate why no oil warning light and low fuel light working.

Pulled off the tank and found the wiring socket for low fuel light disconnected. Shorted out loom side and warning light on; easy fix!

Placed tank back on and connected all hoses and fuel pump connector back (100% the same way as before).

Tried to start it and no fuel pump whirring. And low fuel light off again!!
Have searched the forum for answers and there are many; too many in fact and I'm overwhelmed with info. It's dark now and hoping for some pointers before I get stuck back in tomorrow.
Cheers.

Under the seat and then under the cross piece for the tail section and just behind the fuse box there are four relays. The left one is the ECU, the next one is the fuel pump and the next one is the fan. Those three are all the same. Check by feeling if the fuel pump relay is 'clicking' with ignition, if not, pull the fan relay, try it.

I swapped the relays and no joy there.

Appears to have no power to fuel pump wiring (test light didn't light). And another clue; I don't have the orange engine warning light upon ignition on (did have before I took out the tank).

The low fuel light comes on when circuit is shorted but not upon ignition on.

I am stumped with this one.

Well I'll be farked, tonight it started. Engine warning light on at ign. on. All I did was put tank back on, connect wires and hoses as I have done two or three times in last two days.

So all good for now!
Still have to get the oil pressure warning light/sensor problem rectified.

Cheers.
